This article focuses on the pivotal role social media plays in society today through the consumption of news and products. In particular, the article reveals results of a study which was conducted by Pivot Conference which found that most brands who attended the seminar measured their goals and objectives through social media platforms. The article suggests that if the four top departments being: Marketing, PR, sales and customer service stopped fighting for social media turf and dollars and focused more on providing useful, compelling content to facilitate engagement, they’d build brand loyalty.
