Rural Internet Kiosks Project

By Clare Cunningham

This article talks about the setting up of RIKs (Rural Internet Kiosks) in rural areas which provides people with internet access as well as encourages entrepreneurship. The RIKs are an attempt to close the digital divide between rural and urban dwellers in Africa. The assumption is that, by providing internet access, people in rural areas will access information that will enable them to improve their lives.
