The Promise and Challenges for Mobile Media in the Developing World

According to this article, if media does not move into developing countries swiftly with beneficial applications and services, then others will and the role of professional media decrease. It argues that cell phones are usually a “Bottom of the Pyramid” industry and are “poor-centric” in that they function by gathering subscription fees that poor users can afford. Therefore cell phones are good way to reach audiences often shut out of mainstream media.
