Some people laud social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter as having the potential to transform societies for the better. Yes, these sites have sometimes done this: they promote freedom of speech and participation in social and political debates, and they have even aided revolution is some countries. Undeniably though, it’s not all been great. I think we’ve all seen what in many societies constitute undesirable behaviour such as narcissism and exhibitionism that seem to have found a festering ground on social networking sites.
