Journalism ethics and collecting personal information

Search engines keep a lot of users’ information without their consent and providing such information to authorities upon request poses a threat to an individual’s right to privacy. Storing a person’s credit card data online, tracking his or her Internet searches etc. does not comply with ethics of Journalism.
